these are the printed images Glenda gave us to play with
, so i've cracked on. Not wishing to blow my own trumpet but i've think i've pretty much cracked it with skin tone with promarkers. In the 1 you can see crossed out i really messed it up, i had a bleed from the lippy in2 the face tried to blend it out what a silly thing to do, she had a lovely ring to hilite my mistooky. its only a bit of paper & ink whatever.
In the other 1 i used a mix of colours to build up & tone, enjoyed it with good results. Still to get there with other mediums but i'll do it.
The seagull i did with water colour paints, down side is its not on watercolour paper its on staples graphic/text paper 160gsm its a lovely paper for printing on to. i did a pale wash of blue for the water followed up by adarker blue & sap green mixed, because of the paper stock was quite hard to lift col out for capped waves effect. i hoped the darker blue would give the shadow instead. Again paler wash then a build up in the sky when dry i used pastels of blue/white for texture. pastels on the base of the post dragged into the water.for reflection. the posts i have to constantly remind myself to leave the white in the middle for shape. used 2 browns a deeper 1 for hilites then a touch of green for algae.hope i've got it right, we'll see when it goes to class.
The last pic i used pastels. I brought some really cheap 1's for the last course but glenda was telling me if there too hard they are difficult to blend & move around. The 1's i brought are still reasonably cheap but ALOT better they are short square sticks so i can get quite a fine line with them. yep much easier than my old 1's. The reason i decided to give em a go was cos Glenda thought i get on well with them as i'm going the right way with shading with graphite pencils.

I'm still working on my Wk 2 so have the skin & sea etc.... still to do. Your facial colouring is super on this & I really like the shading of her face. As for the sea - I like how realistic it looks.
